  • For some people, watching anime characters striving to be the best in their various club activities makes them wish they could join a club. For others, it's the super-adorable managers!
  • To find out which anime club managers Japanese fans love best, Charapedia held a poll from May 15 to 19, with a fairly equal balance of genders answering and 70% of respondents being between 10 and 20.

  • A new anime has started streaming online, an original creation by Takashi Taniguchi - that's right, the guy who's also behind the upcoming anime about a fart that gives advice. No, seriously.
  • This series, titled Ippou Nippon Mukashi Banashi, explores the other side of traditional Japanese stories such as Momotarou, the Peach Boy.

  • If you've been watching Kumamiko (aka Girl Meets Bear) this season, you've likely thought about how nice it would be to have a big friendly bear like Natsu look after you.
  • Well, it would seem that the concept of the anime isn't all that bizarre after all. Meet Stepan, the 23-year-old, 300lb bear who lives with a Russian family. Not only does he live with them, he also eats with them at the dinner table, watches TV with them on the sofa, and helps water the garden!
  • I'm sure you can imagine the reaction over here in Japan - that's right, this is the real life Kumamiko! Except there's no miko. And it's set in Russia. But it's super adorable anyway. Check out the video and Japanese anime fan's reactions below!

  • A crowdfunding website has opened today revealing a new project from the creators of BL parody Gakuen Handsome - for a television anime series! Their target is 12, 3-minute episodes, starting from fall 2016.
  • Originally a game, Gakuen Handsome has already been animated once as a single-episode OVA, but now they're aiming big, hoping to gather ¥2,000,000 (just over $303,700) in funding.
  • In exchange for their money, fans can get a variety of rewards, including limited edition merchandise and even an invite to a celebratory party with some of the staff and cast!

  • Back in March, we brought you the first PV for the upcoming live action movie for Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso (Your Lie in April), which is set to hit Japanese cinemas on September 10 2016.

New Vampire Knight Manga Starts Serialisation

  • It has been confirmed that the side story to Matsuri Hino's internationally popular manga Vampire Knight, Vampire Knight: Memories, will start regular serialisation on June 6 in Lala DX magazine.
  • Memories originated as extra chapters that were sporadically released as one shots. All the chapters so far have also been compiled into a printed volume, which has just gone on sale here in Japan.

  • Titled Nademonogatari, the new novel will start publication on July 29 2016 and focus on Nadeko Sengoku.

Tokyo Ghoul's Mangaka Draws HxH Hisoka Manga!

  • Yoshihiro Togashi is infamous for his Hunter x Hunter hiatuses, leaving fans waiting and wondering what will happen next - especially to a certain sadistic clown-faced character.
  • Well, it seems he's found a solution to the issue - get another mangaka to write it for him! Like Tokyo Ghoul's author, perhaps? All joking aside, Sui Ishida has released a 69-page oneshot name (manga draft) dedicated to HxH fandom favourite, Hisoka.

  • Kei Sanbe's hit mystery manga Boku Dake ga Inai Machi (aka ERASED in English) has started a new serialisation today - a side story titled Boku Dake ga Inai Machi Re.
  • The manga received an anime adaptation in winter 2016 by A-1 Pictures, furthering its international fame.
  • Published in Kadokawa's Young Ace monthly manga magazine, the spinoff will explore another side to the story, one not touched upon in the original series.

Classic Anime & Light Novel ROD (Read or Die) Is Coming Back!

What You Need to Know:

  • Hideyuki Kurata made a big splash with his light novels for Read or Die. They were picked up as an anime getting a 3 episode OVA in 2002 and then a full 26 episode season in 2003.
  • Since late February 2006, not a single thing has been released by the author with many fans thinking that this was the end of the series..... until now.
  • The other day, the publishing company, DX Digital Bunsho announced via their twitter that for the first time in 10 years, the ROD light novel is coming back! Fans were teased with an image below that says "私は本を愛している" which simply means "I love books." To assuage any concerns that fans have, they also tweeted in the same tweet that this is not a joke nor a lie. It is coming! Have you seen Read or Die? Are you excited that this classic is coming back?

  • Puzzle & Dragons is huge. It's a phone game that has has spin off games for the 3DS and now, coming this summer, it's getting an anime. Simple enough, you collect monsters and run dungeons fighting other monsters. However, Puzzle & Dragons eventually becomes all about strategy. Pokemon fans will LOVE this game. You can get it on just about every platform imaginable.
  • Juggernaut company, Gungho owns Puzzle & Dragons as well as some other games. However, Telecom giant Softbank that owns Gungho, has announced that it has just sold Gungho! For a jaw dropping price to a company abroad. Softbank is one of the largest cell service providers in Japan and a few years ago, they acquired Sprint in the US. Now they have made a very, very pretty penny off of Gungho.
  • Chinese Giant and Amazon Rival, Alibaba Group Holdings has purchased Gungho from Softbank for, take a seat cause you are gunna need it, $10,000,000,000. That's Illion with a B aka 10 Billion dollars! While that is a very successful transaction, fans are a bit worried about what will happen not only to Gungho, but the quality of the games it makes and it's upcoming anime as well. What are your thoughts?

  • Nishio Ishin shot to fame as the creator of the unique and yet never ending Monogatari series. Hentai Artist Takizawa Kei is famous for.... well.... hentai. However it has come to light today at that they are now working on a new series together!
  • As if things could not get any stranger, it's a regular everyday manga! It's not ecchi, hentai, or even remotely monogatari-esque! One thing to note is that many an author of more adult material tend to change their names when they work on different genre projects so as to not confined to "simply drawing hentai" or "just another shounen manga artist." Fans are almost sure that Kei Takizawa is actually Kei Mizuryuu. This happened with Death Note as the author used a Pseudonym to write it.
  • An everyday soccer manga, the cover reads "Like oil and water, cats and dogs, The exact opposites are connected only by soccer." If you can read Japanese or want to practice, the first few pages have been uploaded at the source site!
